FEATURES OF ABRASIVE NONWOVEN FLAP WHEELS
DIMENSIONS:
Due to their versatility, flap wheels can be used in the most varied fields. They are
manufactured in a wide range of dimensions for all kinds of applications.
Diameter (in millimetres): 30-40-50-60-80-100-110-150-180-200-250-300-350-400.
This catalogue shows the standard dimensions available in stock; please contact our
technical department for dimensions not indicated.
HARDNESS (FIN=FLAP INTENSITY NUMBER):
The hardness is determined by the number of flaps in the wheel.
Production is standardised in number codes: 6-8-10-12-14.
Number 6 stands for the softest and 14 for the hardest. We can also produce wheels with
other hardness upon request; please contact our technical department.
SURFACE SPEED:
The surface speed depends on the diameter of the wheel. Nonetheless, given the
material's high resistance and its excellent performance even at low speeds, the range
falls between 1400 and 2800 rpm maximum. ABRASIVE NONWOVEN MATERIAL has not
been designed for deburring; follow the recommended speeds.
ABRASIVE TYPE:
Flap wheels are manufactured with two kinds of abrasives.
The size of abrasive granules is classified according to a scale called GRAIN or GRIT.
ALUMINIUM OXIDE:-AAluminium
oxide granules have a closed-prism shape which gives a uniform polish. Their
resistance and durability make them ideal for surface conditioning. These abrasives are
red-brown or dark red.
SILICON CARBIDE:-SSilicon
carbide granules are very hard and have very sharp edges. They give a clean cut
particularly suited for treating metals. Especially suited for stainless steel.
The lower the number, the coarser the abrasive granule will be. Therefore, the coarser the
granule, the wider and deeper the cut will be (e.g.: 60 grain is coarser, 1200 grain is finer).
